Most people know that ringing in the ears can have various medical causes, like high blood pressure or muscle spasms of the middle ear. However, were you aware that there are far more interesting, paranormal reasons that ears ring?
Why The Ears?
While all of the parts of our body can be spiritually attuned, why is the ear so important?
It really all comes down to symbolism, and the idea of the sacred spiral. In many cultures throughout time, the spiral represents growth, evolution, development, and eternity. The cool part is that this spiral is also represented physically in the human body, specifically in the inner ear. The inner ear, which is known medically as the cochlear spiral, looks similar to a nautilus shell. The cochlear spiral is what allows us to hear, as it takes sounds from the outside world and transports them to the brain for translation.
What Does it Mean When Your Ears Ring?
Being able to hear or sense different sounds and frequencies is a gift few people possess. This gift is known as clairaudience, which roughly means “clear hearing.” However, it is important that people evaluate these sounds carefully, as they may often just be more sensitive to the frequencies that come from running electronics.
Most people believe that ringing ears is a way that guardian angels attempt to get messages across. However, there are other reasons that have been discussed as well.
Another commonly held belief is that ringing in the ears means that someone in the world is gossiping about you. Often this is related to a need to be liked or understood by the people around you. Much of this theory comes from the idea that our physical body parts also have symbolic and spiritual meanings. It would make sense that the ears, the body part that physically hears, would correspond to having people talk about you.
Some ringing is even strong enough that it has the potential to cause mood shifts – more peaceful, calm, or even angry, fearful, or irritable (more on this later).
Other Spiritual Explanations For Ringing Ears
In addition to the guardian angel explanation, there is also another school of thought.
Some people believe that the reason our ears ring is actually that certain people are more sensitive to the energy around us. This energy is often processed as a ringing or buzzing that many people write off as simply being “white noise.” People that hear this white noise are said to be hearing the divine energy coming from the universe itself.
This most commonly occurs with people who are experiencing their own spiritual awakening, sometimes referred to as ascension. The theory is that as our own personal energy vibration is increasing, we are much more able to be attuned to the higher energy vibrations and frequencies going on around us. The more subtle sounds are even said to be the actual sound of creation, which can be literal or figurative.
High Pitched Ringing
For instance, if the ringing in your ears is high pitched, it can be an indication that you may have had relationship problems. Your guardian angel may be trying to send a message to warn you that you could be revealing too much of yourself. It can also be a sign that you may be temporarily unbalanced and on the path to a spiritual transformation.
High pitched ringing in the ears can also indicate that a very important life change may be headed your way. The ringing is a way to make sure that we are paying attention.
The majority of spiritually related ringing in the ears that people experience is high pitched. In almost all cases, high pitched ringing is a positive sign that brings with it a sense of joy, ease, and calmness.
Low Pitched Ringing
On the other hand, low pitched ringing makes up a small percentage of the clairaudience people experience. However, it is also significantly more negative.
Low pitched ringing is often thought to be a sign that we may be the subject of a psychic attack. These psychic attacks can come in a variety of different ways – from people talking negatively about us to simply just thinking unkind thoughts that are directing low vibrations our way.
The positive part about hearing low pitched ringing is that it provides you with the ability to protect yourself. Look at it like a tornado watch… danger may be coming but you have time to prepare yourself so that you can stay safe.
Right Ear Ringing Superstition
Most people believe that ringing in the right ear is the sign of a message being sent from Heaven or God. It is the side most associated with the spiritual side of life, and with potential dangers coming from supernatural places instead of with physical beings. It is generally positive.
Another common interpretation of specifically high-pitched ringing in the right ear is that it signifies exciting news or good fortune. It is a clarification that there is a new, positive chapter coming, possibly as a result of something that you may have been working on for a long time.
In some cases, however, ringing in the right ear can be a warning that you may be straying from the path you should be on.
Left Ear Ringing Superstition
According to most superstitions, ringing in the left ear is usually related to messages about your physical and material life. It is also generally more associated with the warnings, and usually more negative.
Low-pitched ringing that just happens in the left ear is often considered a warning sign that we should step back and carefully listen to what our intuition is trying to tell us. You should also be wary of the people around you and situations that you are in. The universe is trying to tell you that something you may have been working toward will be unsuccessful. It could also be a sign that relationships that we have been investing in, which could be friends, family, coworkers, etc., are no longer fulfilling you and may have even become harmful or unhealthy to you.
In some cases, experiencing left ear ringing can also be a general warning that you may facing danger in the near future.
What Other Symptoms Come With Ringing Ears?
In addition to the ringing in the ears, there are also other symptoms or feelings that can happen. This varies enormously depending on the person. Some people report an increase in feelings of empathy and compassion. Others state they feel something like a “buzz” around the crown chakra (on the top of their head). Some of the more negative physical symptoms can include dizziness, nausea, tension headaches, tingling around the head and face, and a disruption in sleep patterns.
Remember, if you notice any pain related to ringing in the ears, you should absolutely seek out medical help to verify that there isn’t a more obvious physical cause to your symptoms.
What Do I Do When I Hear Ringing In My Ears?
The best place to start is by keeping a log of when you’re noticing the ringing and how long it lasts. It is also important to note whether you’re hearing the ringing in your left ear, your right ear, or both at the same time (we’ll get into this in a bit). Lastly, pay attention to the type of ringing it is. Is it dull and muffled? Is it high pitched?
Once you’ve established all of that information, you should always sit and meditate on it when it happens. This will allow you the headspace to figure out what the precise message is, which then lets you act on it appropriately.
What If The Ringing Is Too Much?
Sometimes the ringing can just become too much. This can be due to either the physical annoyance of the actual ringing or the overabundance of the feelings that it brings.
The good news is that there is a way that you can turn it down if you need to. Simply ask your guardian angel to provide you with a break! They often don’t realize just how overwhelming it can be, especially for those who are new to clairaudience. That can provide you with a buffer while you learn to control it more. Ultimately, just being able to hear that ringing means that you are in control.
It can also be a good idea to turn off all technology and just take a walk outside, in nature, with no interference. This will help you silence the other noise so you can focus on the ringing and hopefully figure out the cause so that you can resolve it.
So, if you’re hearing ringing in the ears, always take it seriously. After first ruling out a physical cause, consider what the universe may be trying to tell you and why. It can often be the gift of clarity you might need to gain a deeper understanding of your life, or the warning you need to fend off any physical or spiritual assaults.
